The Reno Sparks Kiwanis Bike Program is dedicated to teaching about safe bicycling practices and reconditioning bicycles for the needy in northern Nevada. Our volunteers hold special events for children and adults in the area, providing them with better skills for using and maintaining their bikes, including bike rodeos, workshops and fun activities. Dedicated volunteers (from 9 years old to 80 years young) recondition bikes. We are joined in this effort by our partner team from the Stewart Conservation Camp. All Supplies and labor necessary to support the program are donated by individual citizens and community organizations.. Partners in this
program include: And our many friends in the community who contribute the bikes we use. The bike program was establlshed in 1993 for the purpose of reconditioning, refurbishing and distilbuting bikes to children In need. We also provide a limited number of commuter bikes to adults in need of basic transportation. Donate
your bike to us to recondition,
If you're moving up to a better bike, or no longer have a need fix the one you have, you can donate ittothe program eitherby contacting us directly, or by dropping it off at any Washoe County Fire Department station in the area. We pick up bikes on a regular basis. Volunteers are always needed to help with reconditioning bikes (fix flat tires, lubrication, minor and major repairs etc.). It’s agreat way to help a good cause, and learn more about bikes at the same time. To volunteer to “wrench” call us at the number below, and we’ll contact you for our next work day. We welcome all levels of skill and dedication. Plus it’s fun!
