Reno Sparks Kiwanis Bike Program Annual Meeting and Program Assessment

Current Activities

  • Trailer update (Roger Jacobson and Dave Grill) – acquisition in process/ should be having work days to get it ready to use in the next few weeks
  • Facilities update (Roger Jacobson and Dave Larson) – meeting with Washoe County Schools next week, meetings under way  with Scott Woodward to plan building construction (proposing 1000 sq ft building, fenced, expandable)

 

Revenues – commitments for 2004-2005 total $19,700

  • Kiwanis commitments

  • Nevada Office of Traffic Safety Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Program grant

Program Profile

Distributions/ activities

Inception through September, 2004

Over 1000 helmets distributed

Over 500 bikes distributed (includes bikes for kids through programs, direct contributions, commuter bikes, for programs as gifts)

Over 20 rodeos and bike safety education events and activities with over 2500 participants

 

Since October 1, 2004

  • Bikes distributed – 150 (approximately)
  • Helmets distributed – 150
  • Bike rodeos – 1 at Sun Valley Elementary
  • Downtown Sparks Christmas Parade float and bike riders (community awareness)
  • Grants submitted – 4 to Office of Traffic Safety, Northwest Neighborhood Advisory Board and with the Nevada Urban Indians Coalition
